FAQS

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How do I choose the right mat thickness?

Thickness depends on the impact level.

1.5" to 2" Mats: Ideal for floor work, stretching, and basic tumbling like cartwheels or walkovers. These provide a firm surface for balance.

4" Landing Mats (Crash Pads): Necessary for dismounts from bars or beams, or for higher-impact tumbling passes where extra shock absorption is required to protect ankles and knees.

Will the home beam feel like the one at the gym?

Yes. Our competition-style beams use a wood or stabilized composite core wrapped in high-grade synthetic suede. This provides the same "grip" and texture that gymnasts feel during a meet, ensuring their transition from home practice to the competition floor is seamless.

What is the weight limit for your home kip bars?

Most of our junior kip bars are designed for athletes up to 120–150 lbs. For higher-level gymnasts performing aggressive circles or releases, we recommend using sandbags on the base extensions or upgrading to our double bars to ensure the unit remains completely stable.

Can I use this equipment outdoors?

While our mats are made of water-resistant vinyl, we do not recommend leaving equipment outside. UV rays can degrade the suede on beams, and moisture can cause rust on the steel components of bars. For the longest lifespan, always store your Altiora gear in a dry, indoor environment.

How can my gymnast practice vault at home safely?

Vault is about explosive power and the "entry." We offer specialized Vault blocks and Run-up mats that allow gymnasts to practice their approach and their "pop" off the board. We recommend focusing on "drills" (like handstand snaps) rather than full vaults unless you have a high-ceiling space and professional-grade landing zones.

What is an "Air Track" and is it better than a foam mat?

Air tracks are inflatable mats that provide more "bounce" or rebound, similar to a rod floor or a trampoline. They are excellent for learning new tumbling skills with less stress on the joints. Foam mats, however, are better for practicing "sticks" and routine precision where a stable surface is required.

Why is shipping expensive for some items?

Gymnastics equipment is heavy and long. Items like 8-foot beams or steel bars cannot be folded into small boxes. We work with specialized carriers to ensure these items don't bend or break during transit. We do our best to subsidize these costs to keep our prices competitive for families.

Do you ship internationally?

Currently, we primarily serve the domestic market to ensure we can guarantee reasonable shipping times and safety standards. Please contact us at support@altioragym.com for a custom quote if you are located outside our standard shipping zones.

What if I need help assembling my equipment?

Every order comes with a digital assembly guide. If you get stuck, you can email our support team with a photo of the parts, and one of our specialists (who have likely assembled these same units themselves) will walk you through the process.
